Elizabeth considers her color-blocked jackets to be her most creative work. They are certainly the most intricate.These are on-of-a-kind, so if you order the "iris jacket" for instance, all the major colors will occur with the same placement, but the positions of the striped fabrics will be unique to your jacket.

The inspiration for Walker's color-blocked jackets is two-fold: partially inspired by Japanese kimono shapes, and partly by African kenti cloth.
Kenti cloth is woven in narrow strips, which are subsequently sewn together to make larger pieces. Walker's designs began with strips from the scrap basket. When the scrap collection was depleted, she began weaving nine inch wide pieces, which she cuts apart and arranges in various combinations to make her vests and jackets.
